Dusty Desert Quilt Guild
Holbrook Publick Library
We have been a chapter of the Arizona Guild since 2011. We have an average of 25 members.
Our meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at the Holbrook Library. 6:30 pm. They generally consist of a business meeting, a tip provided by a different member every month, a program (also member provided), show and tell and door prizes.
We have two retreats a year, usually one held at the Bear Cabin Retreat center near ShowLow and the other at the Odegaards Retreat house in Flagstaff. Many of our members coordinate with the nearby Winslow guild and attend retreats they host.
DDQG supports many local charities. Last year we donated quilts to the NAOMI house, where many Native American children are fostered. We had an excess of quilts to donate during the holidays, and were able to provide quilts for each of the residents at the Holbrook Senior Center. Our holiday tradition is to provide socks to the Senior Center as well. Many of our members do charity quilts that are not structured through our chapter, such as quilts for service members, cancer patients, etc.
