Arizona Quilters GuildCommitted to educating the public and our members about the place quilts hold in our lives, hearts, and history. |
The Rippers chapter of AZ Quilters Guild has been around since Feb 11, 2009.
We currently have between 30-35 members and love to have new members and guests join us. We meet the 1st Wed of the month for socialization and working on our own projects. Our business meeting is the 2nd Wed (Sep-May) and includes our Show and Tell. The 3rd Wednesday is our Charity Work Day where we work on sandwiching quilt tops and sewing on various charity projects. The 4th Wed we offer classes taught by one of our members. We offer several challenges to our members throughout the year.
Since we don’t have a business meeting June through August, we offer a 3 day, day camp during those months, which meets at Sweet P’z Design in Gilbert. Our members can attend all 3 days or just one or 2 days. We can work on any project of our choice. It is a fun time to get out of the heat and spend time with fellow Rippers. We also offer a summer project which can be completed during the summer.
We love getting together and sharing. We have a luncheon for Thanksgiving and Christmas and celebrate our birthday in Feb with a big Birthday party.
To keep up with our charity work which includes making quilts, walker bags, pillowcases, microwave bowl cozys, placemats, adult bibs and back packs, we try to have kits available for our members to take home. We have several members within the Rippers who do the long-arming on our charity quilts. All of our charity projects go to benefit Grand Court and Fellowship Square which are senior living facilities in Mesa.
