Arizona Quilters Guild
Committed to educating the public and our members about the place quilts hold in our lives, hearts, and history.
Cactus Patchers has been a chapter of AQG since the beginning of the guild. While we have supported various charities over the 40+ years, we have also maintained a consistent meeting schedule to share all things quilting. We have 36 members, and are growing. In addition to meetings we have an annual holiday party, a spring event that always requires desserts, a retreat or two, and lots of fun!
We have been having some awesome quilt challenges presented by an award winning member; these quilts are entered into the group challenge category at the AQG Quilt Show. Our chapter has a charity focus each year which has included Days for Girls, Quilts of Valor, New Leaf, Sunshine Acres, Catholic Services, AZ Blankets 4 Kids, and many more. Participation is not mandatory but always appreciated.
Meetings are currently held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Pyle Center located in Tempe at Rural Road and Southern Avenue. Our first meeting each month, from 6:30-8:30pm, is a program which might be a teacher’s presentation or a trunk show by a member or vendor. These are always inspirational!
Our second meeting is a sew day where we either work on a charity project or our own projects; the room is open from 3:00-8:30pm for sewing.
Our chapter includes several task masters, a treasurer, program chair, hospitality chair (greeter), membership chair, Quilt of Valor chair, etc.; dues are $20 per year which covers room rental and the few extras we might need for events.
