Let me guide you through various techniques to create rust on muslin, cotton, velvet and silk. Rusted recycled objects are one way to transfer the rust but you can create rust on new objects and use these in your art quilts. If you desire a more uniform way to transfer the rust to fabric stencils can be incorporated. Many samples will be available to challenge your imagination.
