Scraptastic:

A Quilter's Journey

a Zoom lecture by

Kate Quinn

Wednesday, October 29, 2025

7:00 pm (Arizona Time)

Have you ever thought “I want to make a quilt with my scraps, but how can I make sure it actually turns out beautiful?” Ask no further. Join Kate Quinn for clear and practical tips to make amazing, interesting, and fun scrap quilts. Kate will share cutting tips, planning guidelines, color balance ideas, and organizational tips so you can turn your scraps into a treasure trove of absolutely beautiful quilts. This lecture includes both a PowerPoint presentation and a robust trunk show so you will have strong visuals to help you turn your own scraps into quilting gold! Kate also includes a special discussion about how scrap quilting affects the utility of a quilt, the longevity of a quilt, and the quilt’s ultimate use. If your scraps are multiplying out of control, come learn how to wrangle them into shape! Join the scrap party discussion!

Learn More about Kate

Kate Quinn's fascination with quilting began when she received a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt as a wedding present. The gift of a second scrappy quilt further solidified her love of fabrics and colors. Her first quilt was made to celebrate the birth of her first child around 1993. She has loved quilting ever since.

She loves all styles and types of quilts from art to modern, from traditional pieced to applique. She also loves how quilting is a connection through the ages and across generations.

As a stay at home mom with five children for 18 years quilting became Kate's social connection. It was the one thing that “mom” did for herself. With her family having served in the Army for over 28 years and moving so many times, quilting has always helped Kate connect in a new community and to build relationships.
